Jyoti Bajaj, the Radiant Child facilitator and owner of TheYogaKids in Toronto, obviously loves yoga and sharing it with her young students. She is eager to share the many benefits of yoga, including learning about our bodies, breath awareness, increasing our imagination, and helping with self-discipline.

Recently, however, she had an opportunity to really witness the enthusiasm that students have for yoga when they are newly introduced to it. Jyoti spent a week in a Toronto school teaching yoga during the students’ gym class. At the end of the week, teachers and students were so excited about what they had learned. They all thanked her for coming, even the 5th grade boys! They loved learning about yoga and asked her to come back, so they could read more.
This was a great experience for her, but then she had an even more profound experience, one that she is excited to share. While at the school, she was able to teach yoga to a class of special needs students. The class went well, and at the end, she thanked all the students for participating. Then, she said, “A boy walked up to me and started to caress my hand and arm. I felt something that I have never felt before. His eyes were like little diamonds and his smile was one that I will never forget – so warm and comforting. He had the most beautiful smile; it seemed so angelic and pure.”

Jyoti hopes to bring joy and enthusiasm to her students through her teaching of yoga, but on this day, one little boy gave back to her, in his own special way, that joy and enthusiasm. And, it’s a day Jyoti will never forget.
